Moulding Memories Kit.

Do i need anything else?

On the buckit we list the following items you will need: Measuring Jug, Electric Hand Mixer and Mixing Bowl. These items will help you achieve the a flawless casting of 2 hands together. However, you may require baby oil, olive oil, petroleum jelly or some hand cream if you are casting hairy skin.

I’m nervous about the casting time

We’ve have formulated our kit to facilitate a 5-7 minute cure, if you need more time you can use cold water for the mix, if you’d like shorter time (for casting with children) you can use warm water. For first time users, we’d recommend following our guidance for optimum results.

Can i make more than one casting?

The quantities of moulding powder and casting powder provided is sufficient for two hands adult hands moulded and cast together in our bucket, however, you can use the material to cast something else of comparable size or cast multiple smaller things. This will require some calculations to ensure the proper ration of water to powder is correct.

Can i apply a finish coating?

Yes, you can! We love it when the creativity continues. Your cast plaster sculpture will take some time to dry completely, we recommend leaving it for a couple of weeks in a warm room to allow it to dry naturally. Once dry, your sculpture will be very porous and will require sealing. Sealing can be done with acrylic paint, shellac, watered down PVA glue and some brands of spray paint; give each coat time to dry before applying additional layers.

Can a broken casting be repaired?

Yes. If you should accidentally break you plaster casting, make sure you keep all the pieces. Provided the pieces are clean and dry, they can be reassembled with PVA glue.
